Sunnyvale
Lying along the historic El Camino Real and Highway 101, Sunnyvale is surrounded by key tech cities of the Silicon Valley. Developed as a fruit-processing center, the city shifted to industry with the building of a U.S. Navy dirigible base in the ’30s and the emergence of Westinghouse Electric in the ’40s. It later became the birthplace of the video game industry and is now home to an array of technology companies including LinkedIn and several aerospace/defense firms. Sunnyvale’s park system includes 772 acres of park and open space. Multi-use trails link to parks, schools, creeks, wetlands, neighboring communities and routes along the San Francisco Bay. The Saturday Farmer’s Market is a must for both locals and visitors.
