Mountain View
Named for its vistas of the Santa Cruz Mountains, this city was key to the early history and growth of Silicon Valley. Originally an agricultural area, it’s now home to the headquarters of many of the world’s largest technology companies, including Google, Intuit and more. Starting in the 1930s, Mountain View was the location of the Navy’s Moffett Field Complex and a number of early regional aerospace and electronics industries. Current downtown attractions include an annual Art & Wine Festival, a Sunday morning farmers’ market and a series of summer Thursday Night Live events.
